Vocations

Today I'm doing an either or questionaire regarding what job you would chose from the list below. It could get tricky.

lion tamer or snake handler
airplane pilot or ocean liner captain
insurance salesman or car salesman
waiter or cook
teacher or nurse
professional gambler or show girl
writer or editor
accountant or dentist
farmer or truck driver
plumber or electrician
police officer or fireman
scientist or artist
doctor or lawyer

my choices: lion tamer, pilot, cook, teacher, gambler, writer, accountant, farmer, electrician, police officer, artist, lawyer.

Hi Annie,
another good one, here we go:

lion tamer - I hate squirmy things
ocean liner captain - never flown, never will, was once going to join Merchant Navy as a Radio Officer, eyesight wasn't good enough for a Deck Officer.
car salesman - I still fancy this now
cook - me and teh 13 Year Old could do a double act
teacher - I still would love to teach primary school kids, in England we have a great deal of female teachers and not enough men, a lot of families and young kids don't have any males in the family or at school, parents are divorced
professional gambler - I couldn't be a show girl, my oldest son's tutor said he will be a professionale gambler, as a college student I made my money playing poker and was eventually expelled bacause of it
writer or editor
accountant -
farmer or truck driver - I would like both
plumber or electrician - I do both in my house
police officer or fireman - I think my eldest will be a policeman, my youngest would be a fireman! I think I could only be a policeman, but I'd get sacked for smacking the criminals

scientist or artist
lawyer - I've recently considered going back to university to be a lawyer/solicitor but I can't afford it

Best one yet Annie, I'd like to know your reasons for choosing what you did.

Regards
Ian

Hi Ian,

I chose lion tamer because I hate snakes, used to live in a lovely home infested with them, yikes, a pilot because I've actually got to take the controls of a plane before, the view is wonderful, insurance because it deals with facts,I really despise all sorts of salespeople, hate being pitched to,a cook because I love it and have had my own restaurant before, teacher because I always loved learning and children, a gambler because it's a passtimeof mine, playing poker, a writer because it's always been my dream, I do some writing on the side, accountant because I've done my share of bookkeeping and am good with numbers, farmer because I was raised on a farm and love nature, electrician because it smells a whole lot better than a sewer, even tho I fear electricity, police officer, because I like the thought of justice and catching bad guys, artist because I have a creative side and love to draw, I'm not technical at all, and a lawyer because of the justice angle and debate and thought that it takes to make a case.
Thanks for takingpart.
Take Care.

Hi Annie,
it's so much more interesting when you have the reasons behind the answers.
What happened to the restaurant?

Taliking of snakes, my Robert's kitten/cat Sky has started bringing in to the house worms! That freaks me out, never mind snakes, I stood on one in my barefeet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Holy sh^t

I could never ever fly, I'd be the one who goes rampant and fights to get out before takeoff.

I fancy driving across Amercia so I'm going to have to sail the whole way!

Best Regards
Ian

The restaurant went by the wayside when I was divorced. It did like it, but it was a lot of work and time away from family.
So you have a fear of flying, wonder what that stems from? hmm....don't you love how the human mind works.

Hi Annie,
the main thing i think my fear of flying stems from is - the plane crashing! I don't like looking over the edge of sheer drops, like an office window high up. Yet I don't mind being high if I'm away from the edge.

I want let my kids fly either, they can when they're older, but while they are under my control - no way.

Ian
